On our last vacation, we spent a...Great post Penny!<br />On our last vacation, we spent a week at a resort & after breakfast my kids would go to the lobby computers to check email, play games etc. On that trip I think my oldest asked me 3 or 4 times, "Dad, why do we have to have homework, but I saw her on her class wiki 3 or 4 times although nothing was assigned on there....hmmmm. <br />My youngest will pull out a couple of sheets of paper and a stapler & create a paper soldier (with removable sword) to guard her bedroom, and after being introduced to glogster at school including starting one before this trip with the theme of 'our family' - she asked me to come to the computer to help her create it...hmmmm. <br />John Davitt at BLC08 asked, re the paper vs the digital world, 'Which world do we want to live in?' and the simple answer: 'Both!'<br />I look forward to the day when we can live in both without the digital divide bias you mention!<br />~Dave.David Trusshttp://pairadimes.davidtruss.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8270798059213605704.post-22782611676313802342010-01-04T14:06:49.208-08:002010-01-04T14:06:49.208-08:00I just discovered your blog & I've felt th...I just discovered your blog & I've felt the very same way about bridging the technology divide between home & school. My kids are only preschool age but as a full-time working mom, anything that would ease the gap between home & daycare/school, would have been/would be great.I haven't found a daycare provider/teacher to do it yet, but all I did was complain about it- never considered actually DOING something about it- I'm inspired by your blog.<br /><br />And you're right on with this post. The judgement is something you see from other parents, but also from your own parents ("it's just not like it used to be"). <br /><br />People who resist technology are just resisting change in general.As soon as the dots are connected for them and they try it for themselves, they usually come around.
